1. The Comprehenza Learning Environment
Comprehenza is built as a focused, safe, and encouraging learning space for students in Grades 6 to 9. Every design decision — from our ad-free interface to our Toxicity Guard — is made with a single priority: protecting the integrity of the learning environment so every child can develop their reading skills without distraction, fear, or harm.
All users — meaning both the parent/guardian managing the account and the child using the App — are expected to interact with the platform in a manner consistent with its educational purpose. This User Conduct Policy defines what is expected and what is not permitted.
2. Expected Behaviour of Child Users
Children using Comprehenza are expected to:
- Use the App for its intended educational purpose: Reading passages in the Library, completing daily Journey exercises, tracking their Comprehenza Quotient (CQ), and using ReadBuddy for genuine questions about vocabulary and reading comprehension.
- Interact with ReadBuddy respectfully and honestly: ReadBuddy is an educational tool. Children should use it to genuinely improve their understanding, not to attempt to make it produce inappropriate content or to test the limits of its safety systems.
- Maintain the integrity of their own learning data: CQ scores and Journey milestone data represent genuine effort and should not be manipulated. The progress displayed is the child's own, and its value lies in accurately reflecting real growth.
- Report any unexpected or concerning app behaviour: If a child encounters any content or behaviour in the App that seems inappropriate or surprising, they should inform their parent or guardian immediately so that it can be reported to our support team.
3. Expected Behaviour of Parent/Guardian Account Holders
The parent or legal guardian who creates and manages the Comprehenza account is responsible for the overall use of the account. Parents are expected to:
- Accurately represent the child's age during account creation to ensure appropriate content calibration.
- Maintain the confidentiality of account credentials (email and password) and not share them with parties other than the child under direct supervision.
- Actively monitor the child's use of the App on a periodic basis, reviewing their CQ progress and Journey history.
- Promptly notify Comprehenza support if the account is accessed without authorization or if the child reports any concerning experience within the App.
- Initiate account deletion via the Profile tab if the child no longer uses the App, ensuring data is appropriately purged.
4. The ReadBuddy Toxicity Guard: How It Protects Your Child
Every message a child types into the ReadBuddy chat interface passes through our multi-layer Toxicity Guard system before it is ever seen by the AI model. This is a fundamental architectural guarantee — the AI never processes an inappropriate message, because harmful messages are intercepted and discarded at the input layer.
The Toxicity Guard screens for:
- Profanity and offensive language in English and common transliterations.
- Hate speech targeting any individual, group, religion, ethnicity, or community.
- Violent or threatening language directed at self or others.
- Adult, sexual, or drug-related content.
- Bullying language or any content intended to demean or harm.
When a message is blocked by the Toxicity Guard, the child receives a clear, non-shaming notification that their message cannot be processed and is prompted to ask a reading-related question instead. The blocked message is not forwarded to the AI and is not stored in a way that is permanently linked to the child's personal record.
Because the Toxicity Guard operates entirely locally within the App, blocked messages are never logged, stored, or transmitted to any external servers, ensuring complete privacy for your child's learning environment.
5. Prohibited Conduct: Specific Rules
The following specific behaviours are strictly prohibited and constitute a violation of these Terms that may result in manual account termination if brought to our team's attention:
- Deliberately and repeatedly attempting to input toxic, harmful, or inappropriate content into ReadBuddy with the intent of testing or breaking the safety system.
- Using the App in any way that violates the rights of any person, including defamation, harassment, or privacy violations.
- Attempting to gain unauthorized access to any part of the App's infrastructure, backend, or other users' data.
- Using automated tools, scripts, or bots to interact with the App in ways that simulate human use, to artificially complete Journey modules, or to inflate CQ scores.
- Sharing account credentials with other children outside the family unit and allowing those children to use the account, which violates the age and identity conditions of account creation.
- Creating multiple accounts with the intent to circumvent any restriction or feature of the App.
- Attempting to extract, reproduce, or redistribute any copyrighted content from the App's Library or exercise database outside of the App environment.
6. Safety and Environment
To preserve our educational mission, Comprehenza utilizes a completely local, real-time safety guard rather than automated tracking, reporting, or account suspension systems. We believe in providing a safe sandbox where children can learn and read safely without their input errors being permanently logged or resulting in automated punitive actions. Parents are encouraged to maintain a collaborative, supervised approach to their child's digital reading journey. If we are notified of deliberate abuse that violates safety guidelines, we reserve the right to manually deactivate the account in consultation with the parent.
7. Reporting Inappropriate App Content
We work hard to ensure ReadBuddy and the Library maintain high standards of safety and educational quality. If a child encounters any content or response that seems inappropriate, confusing, or concerning, we urgently request that parents report it:

Please include in your email: a brief description of the content, the approximate time and date it appeared, and, if possible, the passage or exercise the child was working on. We will investigate all reports promptly and update our safety systems accordingly.
